Why do you use steel?

Steel is a far superior material to wood when it comes to building for a multitude of reasons!

Why is that?

1)  It’s environmentally friendly and considered a green product because 65% of it’s content is recycled.

2)  It is a far stronger material; and rather than having your home held together with nails, this systems superior installation uses rivets and screws.

3)  It lasts longer, in fact it should last around 300 years (for G60 galvanization) and when you eventually take it down it’s 100% recyclable.

4)  It is far more fire resistant than wood, burning/melting at a much higher temperature.

5)  A huge factor for us is that there is little or no waste.

Is it to code?

The steel and frame qualify for all of the building regulations and codes including IBC2003, IRC2003, ASCE72002 and AISI SPECIFICATION2001.

How accurate is it?

Firstly, the system is pre-designed and engineered leaving no room for error; and secondly is cut by computerised precision machine tools making the system 100% accurate.  Unfortunately, you cannot say the same for wood.

How high can you build?

You can generally build to a height that would suit most people, which is no more than three typical stories.

How large a span can you have?

You can have an unencumbered span generally 30 feet in diameter, but we can engineer systems that will cover a much larger area if required.

How do you attach the sheet rock?

Unlike wood when you attach the sheet rock by nails, this system uses screws for a better, stronger and longer lasting fixing.

Where do the electrical wires go?

Again because the system is pre-designed and engineered all of the necessary holes or conduits are already cut, therefore guaranteeing accuracy and reducing the amount of time normally needed to wire the home.

Will your product twist, warp, or split like wood does, rust or deteriorate?

No, the steel doesn’t twist, warp or split like wood does and is galvanised which means that it will not rust or deteriorate for around 300years.

Does it take long to install?

No, because the steel frame is pre-assembled at the factory, it means that the installation on site is generally twice as quick as a wood frame building. This also means less on site labour and therefore less cost.

OK, This product is amazing, how much more is it going to cost?

That’s a very good question, generally for production and smaller homes the cost for the engineering, framing and installation is about the same, what’s really interesting though is that when compared with the larger, more complicated designs, our system usually delivers a far superior product for less money (around $13 per square foot)

So overall how would you sum up this product?

This superior quality steel framing system is green and environmentally friendly both when constructed and when disposed of. (300 years) It is strong, durable and accurate, user friendly, is easy to install, it’s light weight, easy to handle, it goes up in days with only a screw driver and a spirit level. It can be made to fit any design including the most complicated. It’s rust and termite proof, it won’t deteriorate, or burn. From time of order to installation is only 6 weeks. And to top it off it won’t cost you a penny more, in fact in a lot of cases by using a better product you will actually be saving money.
